MET Laboratories is
- a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, providing an alternative
source to UL for the NRTL product safety mark.
- an FCC designated TCB. authorized to issue Grants of Equipment Authorization to Parts 15 & 68 as well as Part 18, 22, Parts 90 & 95, Parts 24-27 and Parts 74 and 101.
- an US/EU appointed CAB, our test reports can be used to support your CE marking.
- a Competent Body for the European EMC Directive and a Notified Body for the Radio & Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (R&TTE).
- is a Bluetooth Qualification Testing Facility - BQTF
- a Verizon approved ITL for NEBS testing
- a Verizon approved ITL for Passive Fiber Optic Component Testing
- A2LA, NIST, OSHA, NVLAP, IECEE certified to test various products and to various standards for Product Safety, EMC/EMI, Wireless, Telecom and Environmental Simulation
- an ACTA recognized and FCC approved TCB, issuing registration numbers for equipment meeting requirements for 47 CFR Part 68
Environmental Simulation
MET performs a full range of simulated environmental tests, including heat dissipation, operational temperature, humidity & altitude criteria, transportation, storage environment, fire resistance criteria, earthquake
and office vibration.
MET's environmental testing is accredited by A2LA, NVLAP, ISTA, and by Verizon and all other RBOCS for NEBS testing.
MET is a Verizon Certified Independent Test Lab - ITL for NEBS testing and for PFOC - Passive Fiber Optic Component Testing.
Additionally, MET laboratories has over 25 years of Mil-Spec testing experience and the capacity to test to any mission profile. MET tests to many military standards, including 167, 202, 704, 810, 883, 1339, T-28800, plus FAA, NASA and IEC.
EMC/EMI
Every EMC project at MET has a designated lead EMC engineer who is responsible for the entire project, from initial set-up to delivery of the final report.
EMC Facilities
Dedicated ESD labs, Modification/Design labs, 10-meter chambers, state-of-the-art OATS, and over 10,000 square feet of air conditioned lab space are just some of the factors that allow us to simultaneously address the needs of a wide range of products - on both coasts.
Two engineering facilities house eight fully equipped shielded enclosures, including 2 double door semi-anechoic chambers for calibrated radiated emissions, (one 5-meter and one 3-meter chamber), two anechoic 3-meter chambers for radiated immunity testing.
Certified 10/3 and 3-meter Open Area Test Sites (OATS) are equipped with elevators and turntables capable of supporting up to 5 tons. MET has opened a new 3/10 meter OATS for radiated emissions testing at our Baltimore
facility. The 200(ft)2 control and support room has been constructed beneath the turntable and ground plane, to prevent any radiated noise from the support equipment interfering with the equipment under test (EUT).
Wireless
MET tests radio frequencies from below 30 MHz up to microwave. SAR testing with DASY4 and EX electric-field probe up to 6 GHz.
MET, as a full service Bluetooth BQTF, performs all RF, Protocol and Profile conformance, BQB services plus all the regulatory services required in US, Canada and Europe.
Product Safety Certification
MET has been certifying, listing, and labeling products for electrical product safety for more than 40 years. In that time, MET has certified thousands of products for compliance to electrical safety standards. This translates into literally millions of products sold in the U.S. and Canada labeled with the MET Mark. MET is currently qualified to certify products in 120 UL Standard categories. This includes consumer products, computing and telecommunications products including NEBS equipment, medical devices, and
equipment designed for hazardous locations.
Telecom Testing and Certification
MET tests products for compliance to U.S., Canadian, and international standards for telecom devices, from NEBS equipment to consumer products such as DSL modems. MET also provides initial design reviews and compliance throughout a project. We can recommend cost effective modifications which
will not adversely affect the performance of the product.
As a fully recognized TCB by ACTA, MET labs can issue registration numbers for equipment meeting requirements for 47 CFR Part 68 - Telephone Terminal Equipment (TTE). MET's Telecom Lab is Verizon Certified for NEBS GR-1089 and
GR-63-CORE testing.
Fiber Optic Component Testing
MET's Fiber Optics Test Lab provides performance and reliability testing of passive optical components in accordance with numerous national and international standards. Labs on both coasts provide a broad range of test
and measurement equipment, so testing programs can be tailored to your needs.
MET is a Verizon Ceritfied ITL for PFOC Passive Fiber Optic Components test facility.
