Drawn
Can Shields
Drawn
can board-level shields offer seamless corners for increased attenuation.
The cans provide additional near-field and far-field circuit isolation
at higher frequencies. The small trace sizes preserve packaging
space on the printed circuit board. Unlimited configurations for
ventilation holes can be incorporated in the design. Tape-and-reel
packaging is available. Formed partitions provide multicompartment
shielding of components. Mold-in-place and form-in-place elastomer
technologies can be combined with drawn cans to shield multiple
components with a single part. Laird Technologies, Delaware

Set
Analysis Service
The
set analysis service examines designs that use tantalum and aluminum
electrolytic capacitors and helps customers select replacement multilayer
ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). The basic procedure begins with characterizing
the circuit board and taking a complete inventory from the bill
of materials, as well as verification of capacitance, actual operating
voltage, and other critical parameters. Once the targeted capacitors
are identified, analysis is performed on one component. The original
capacitor is then replaced with an MLCC, and the performance is
measured. Several MLCC values will be tested to find the capacitance
value that offers the best performance and cost-effectiveness.

EMI/RFI
Shielding
DiamondBack
EMI/RFI shielding features a textured contact surface that increases
attenuation at frequencies of 2.45 GHz and greater. The surface
consists of hundreds of raised dimples that enhance the conductivity
between the gasket and the mating surface. The texturing can be
applied to most standard profiles to achieve up to 20 dB of attenuation
improvement at high frequencies without increasing the compression
force. It is available with numerous mounting and finish options.
