Thermoformed Shield

Shielding for Electronics Inc. provides EMI/RFI shielding solutions, including an insertable EMI shield, for enclosures and printed circuit boards. The Form/Met shields replace direct coating solutions and metal cans with a one-piece thermoformed plastic that is vacuum metallized to meet electromagnetic compliance at >60 dB. The custom-designed shields are lightweight and recyclable. The shields can be delivered directly to a manufacturing line.

Comb Generator Emitter

York EMC Services Ltd. offers a comb generator emitter suitable for measuring the shielding effectiveness of computer enclosures. The CGE01 operates to 12 GHz and can be used as a reference source for anechoic chambers or gigahertz transverse electromagnetic mode cells in which high-frequency verification is required.

Custom EMI/RFI Products

Shielding Lab Kit

The magnetic shielding lab kit from Magnetic Shield is suitable for solving design problems involving magnetic interference in the frequency range of dc to 100 kHz. Minimum material requirements can be determined by adding Co-Netic and Netic layers until the desired attenuation is achieved. The kit allows changes in circuit layout, shield configuration, power levels, and component orientation to be evaluated without reliance on theoretical formulas.

EMI Suppressor Core

Elna Magnetics offers snap-on EMI suppressor cores for large cable diameters from 23 to 25 mm. The round cores employ Fair-Rite NiZn 44 material and have an impedance of 325 W at 100 MHz and >200 W between 30–500 MHz. The ferrite cores are held in polypropylene cases with a flammability rating of UL 94V-0.

Shielding Materials and Products

EMI Gasket

The Quick-Strip from Spira is a peel-and-stick EMI gasket that offers shielding quality up to 140 dB at 1 GHz. The flange-mounted gasket provides compression-set resistance, long life, and reliability, at a low cost. The easy-to-use gasket is manufactured using a stainless-steel spiral and an adhesive-backed neoprene sponge elastomer that holds the gasket in place.

Fair-Rite Products Corp. offers a line of snap-on EMI suppressor assemblies for round cable cores. Three of the company's most popular sizes are available in material 61 for attenuation of frequencies up to 1 GHz.

EMI/RFI Products

Majr Products manufactures a variety of EMI/RFI gasket and shielding products and materials. Products include EMI gaskets, elastomer-core gaskets, knitted wire-mesh products, metallized filled extruded elastomers, metallized fabric gaskets, EMI windows, and ferrites. Prototypes and customized parts are also available.

Ferrite Beads

The ferrites provide EMI attenuation and are available with current ratings up to 6 A.
